Citing the proverbial “good of the country” as the reasoning, Fox Business host Lou Dobbs took to social media on Saturday to call for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign.
Dobbs, an avid Trump supporter, offered several possibilities, to include a possibility that Sessions is “ill” and “incapacitated,” not to mention being “captured,” to explain Sessions absence/inactivity amid all the controversies within the Department of Justice.
“Sessions has fallen ill, he’s incapacitated in some fashion, or he’s been coopted or captured: to preserve any dignity, for the good of the country he needs to resign,” he tweeted.

Dobbs was responding to a tweet from U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. which centered on Gaetz calling for a second special counsel to look into wrongdoing at the Department of Justice.
Gaetz appeared on Fox News’ “Hannity,” with Jeanine Pirro guest hosting Friday for Sean Hannity, to say Sessions needs to be replaced if he will not do this.
President Trump questioned his own attorney general last week for directing DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz to probe Obama-era FISA abuses.
“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!” the president tweeted.

Sessions issued a statement in response to Trump’s tweet, saying: “As long as I am the Attorney General, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor.”
Dobbs has been critical of the FBI and the DOJ, saying in January they “have broken the public trust by destroying evidence, defying oversight and actively trying to bring down the Trump presidency.”
“It may be time to declare war outright against the deep state and clear out the rot in the upper levels of the FBI and the Justice Department,” he said. “Yes, I said ‘the rot.’”
