Conservative political commentator Mark Steyn captured the sentiment of so many Americans over the so-called gun debate following last week’s shooting at a Florida high school when he expressed his utter disbelief… in a rather colorful manner.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Steyn followed a heated segment Friday that featured Democratic Florida state Sen. Gary Farmer, who was pushing for a gun registry for all Americans.
Host Tucker Carlson tried in vain to make the point that responsible gun owners are being asked to register their firearms with government officials who failed to protect students last week, as seen when the FBI and Broward County Sheriff’s Department dropped the ball on the 19-year-old gunman who killed 17 people.
Carlson eventually cut his guest off when the Democrat refused to acknowledge that the government failed to keep the students safe.
“You will not concede that and instead turn the blame back on blameless American citizens,” the Fox News host said. “Giving people like you power is frightening. That’s the bottom line. I’m out, because I can’t get a straight answer from you.”
Carlson went immediately to Steyn and viewers were met with a string of bleeped-out expletives from the Canadian pundit, who was caught expressing his disbelief in the state lawmaker.
“By the way we had a gun registry up in Canada that was a complete fiasco,” Steyn explained to Carlson. “It got completely infected with inaccurate information… It became just another pointless, inaccurate boondoggle.
