A Maryland high school student who was arrested last week for bringing a handgun to school also had a mini-arsenal of firearms and explosives at his suburban Washington home, Montgomery County officials said Tuesday.

Clarksburg High School student Alwin Chen, 18, was arrested Thursday after a school resource officer found a Glock 9mm pistol and ammunition in his backpack, reports WJLA Washington. He was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years old and possession of a firearm on school property after the incident.

Speaking in court on Tuesday, Montgomery County investigators said the firearm in Chen’s backpack was one of several weapons the teen kept at home. A subsequent search of his home turned up multiple guns — including an AR-15 style rifle — ammunition, inert grenades, and a ballistic vest, reports WJLA.

Plice also found a list of grievances against Chen’s fellow students on his person when they arrested him.

Chen had reportedly brought a gun to school on a previous occasion, prosecutors said. It was not immediately clear when that incident occurred or what type of weapon was involved.

Chen’s lawyers argued the additional weapons were not found in his bedroom but in another room in the house. They also said Chen has no indication of mental health problems and that he has completely cooperated with investigators.

A judge ordered Chen to be held without bond, according to FOX 5 DC.
