CNN is rightly being torn to bits for its latest epic fail.
The news network was mocked on Twitter Thursday after it shared an article that provided information about Florida gun laws–a response to Wednesday’s deadly school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
• In Florida, you don’t need a permit to conceal carry a rifle or shotgun, although you do need it to conceal carry a handgun
• You can buy as many guns as you want at one time, because Florida doesn’t regulate that eitherhttps://t.co/EGpPSeO0g5

“In Florida, you don’t need a permit to conceal carry a rifle or shotgun, although you do need it to conceal carry a handgun,” CNN’s tweet noted.
While factually correct, Twitter users scratched their head about why the network seemingly believed it would be possible to conceal a rifle or shotgun.

Dear CNN intern: go out and purchase a rifle, attempt to conceal it on your person, and then tell me why this tweet was ill-advised https://t.co/n2YOvmQPHb

CNN tweeted that "you don't need a permit to conceal carry a rifle or shotgun."
That's probably because it's pretty much impossible to do. How does CNN tweet about guns and not understand this simple common sense point? pic.twitter.com/eSYNfiM0KX

Dear CNN – you can't conceal carry a rifle in any state. Because its a rifle. https://t.co/4sMbuBKtSw

Many more observers piled on, jeeringly informing CNN why a concealed carry permit for long guns would be unnecessary.
This is a little misleading. In Florida, you CANNOT open-carry any gun, and you CANNOT conceal-carry a long gun. You must be legally hunting or at a range to carry a long gun at all. Said another way, you may ONLY conceal-carry a handgun.

Competent, law-abiding gun owners don’t ‘conceal carry’ rifles and shotguns.

You don’t need a permit to conceal a rifle just a super big pocket that CNN can fill with shotguns and AKs https://t.co/68TlTPkkFy

Can you colleagues at CNN explain that first bullet point? How does one conceal carry a rifle or shotgun exactly? https://t.co/gQocCsj9pR

Today’s dumbest thing said award goes to…@CNN just like yesterday and the day before and the day before.
CNN – “y’all got any of those conceal carry rifles and shotguns” 😂🤣

People who know nothing about guns or gun laws probably shouldn’t write about either.
