Parkland shooter identified: ‘Former member of US Army Jr ROTC’ Nikolas Cruz

Multiple reports name Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old former member of the U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, as the heinous shooter at a Parkland, Florida high school who injured “20-50” innocent civilians, reportedly killing “many.”

As reported first by the Miami Herald, the ‘heavily armed’ shooter, named by police sources was former student “Nicolas de Jesus Cruz.|” (This has been subsequently corrected to “Nikolas Cruz.”)

A man matching the description of a shooter wearing a “burgundy shirt” and “black pants” was arrested by police.

Suspect being loaded into fire and rescue transport:

“We were told last year that he wasn’t allowed on campus with a backpack on him,” said math teacher Jim Gard to the Miami Herald. “There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus.”

The Broward Sheriff provided more information:

It is believed that Cruz was a former student.

This is breaking news… more information will be added as forthcoming.
