Senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham want former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice to explain a bizarre email she sent herself moments after President Trump was inaugurated.
At 12:15 p.m. on January 20, 2017, Rice sent herself a contrived email where she recounted a January 5 meeting she allegedly had with Barack Obama, during which she claims he told her to make sure the Russia investigation was done “by the book.”
Rice’s email to herself states: “President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book.’ The president stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”

Senator Graham told Fox News the “note to self” email was laughable because the entire Trump-Russia investigation by the Obama FBI and DOJ was not done “by the book” in any way.
Many speculate that Rice’s email to herself was a “CYA” memo to retroactively exculpate herself and Obama in case the bogus Russia meddling investigation implodes, as it is now.

According to Rice’s email, Obama met with his FBI Director James Comey and then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates on January 5, 2017. Rice says she and then-Vice President Joe Biden were also at the meeting, which took place in the Oval Office.
The Rice email directly contradicts the sworn testimony of James Comey, who told the Senate that the last time he had met with Obama was “late-2016.”
The Conservative Review’s Jordan Schachtel also pointed out that White House logs do not corroborate Rice’s version of events.

Senator Graham said the email Rice wrote to herself was “unusual” because why would Obama need to remind her, the FBI’s Comey, and the DOJ’s Sally Yates to do their jobs “by the book?”
After all, it should be understood that any federal investigation should be done properly, without partisan bias or shady corner-cutting, as seems to have been the case with the Trump-Russia probe.
Also, haven’t Democrats vehemently insisted all along that Obama had nothing to do with investigating the Trump campaign?
Senators Graham and Grassley said they sent a letter to Rice last week, asking her to explain why she sent the email to herself. Specifically, they want to know whether Rice was involved in procuring the discredited “Trump dossier” that was used as the basis of the bogus FISA warrants that were used to illegally spy on Trump campaign staffers.
“Did President Obama have any other meetings with Mr. Comey, Ms. Yates, or other government officials about the FBI’ s investigation of allegations of collusion between Trump associates and Russia?” the letter asked. Rice has until February 22 to respond to the letter.
In April 2017, Judge Andrew Napolitano told Fox News that Susan Rice may have committed espionage when she unmasked President Trump’s transition team members.
Judge Napolitano said Rice was entitled to ask for the names of Trump’s team as part of her job, but revealing their identities in order to undermine Trump is “espionage.”
“As the President’s National Security Adviser, she has the highest level of national security clearance. Can she reveal the identity of an American for a purpose other than national security? Absolutely not.
Can she ask for [the names of] more Americans involved and then unmask them and say to her boss, ‘By the way, guess what Trump and Manafort were talking about last night?’ That’s called espionage. That’s called the failure to safeguard top-secret information.”
Under U.S. federal law, espionage is a felony punishable by death (that’s how seriously the United States views random spying on private citizens).
Basically, if Rice had abused her position as national security adviser to unmask Trump aides as part of an effort to sabotage the Trump administration, she committed a crime.
Many on Twitter suspect Rice wrote the bizarre email to herself to leave a contrived “paper trail” to cover herself since legal experts say the Trump-Russia investigation broke practically every rule in the book.
The corrupt Susan Rice CYA email confirms need to question Obama and Biden about Clinton/DNC Dossier. The whole Russia collusion investigation is a scam targeting @RealDonaldTrump. https://t.co/iM23NkzM3R

One wonders what Susan Rice and her colleagues were doing between Jan. 5 and Jan. 20 at noon that made her think she needed to blast out a quick CYA e-mail moments before Trump became president.
