Only liberals can get away with questioning liberal dogma.
HBO’s Bill Maher sat down with the New York Time’s Bari Weiss on Friday to offer a scathing rebuke of the #MeToo movement’s extremist members, calling millennials in that group “f**king fragile” and “emotional hemophiliacs.”
Weiss told Maher she received backlash from people on the political left for defending actor Aziz Ansari, who was accused of sexual assault.
In a column titled “Aziz Ansari Is Guilty. Of Not Being a Mind Reader,” Weiss argued the star’s accuser simply experienced a bad date.

“If you step out of line even slightly with the hard-left feminist orthodoxy, all of the sudden, like me, you’re a traitor to your gender,” Weiss lamented. “You’re an anti-feminist, you’re condoning rape culture.”
Maher responded:
“I don’t think it’s the majority of them. I think it’s the upper-middle-class kids who grew up screaming at their parents and that was OK. And they are just so f**king fragile — excuse me. I think of them as emotional hemophiliacs, and the rest of us have to be so careful around them.”

Weiss replied that many young people “think that asking someone for a drink constitutes sexual harassment.”
She also joked that for Valentine’s Day, people should “get a permission slip, not a valentine.”
“Who knows what to write in the card,” Maher said.
The comments echoed a rant in which he compared the extremist element of the #MeToo movement to McCarthyism.
“I have a penis. And while I admit that having one does predispose a human to being aggressive and over-sexed, I don’t concede that it makes me automatically wrong about everything, and I say that as a true supporter of the #MeToo movement.
“I even wore black to the Golden Globes. I was home watching TV but still––I wore black. But I was also mourning the ability to think rationally. I’m down with #MeToo, I’m not down with #MeCarthyism.”

Surprisingly, even a hard-headed liberal can make a good point every now and then.
