Antonio Sabato Jr, gets the best of Joy Behar debating immigration, and she can’t stand it

Conservative model, actor, and California Congressional candidate Antonio Sabàto Jr. made an appearance on Wednesday’s edition of The View to discuss a wide range of political topics, so it was only a matter of time before things veered toward the hot topic of the day, immigration.

Sabàto is an outspoken Trump-supporter who happens to be a child of Czech and Italian immigrants who legally brought him to the United States when he was 12 years old, but that didn’t stop Joy Behar and the other hens on The View from trying to use that against his positions on border security.

“Let me ask you another thing that is difficult for me to understand,” said co-host Sunny Hostin. “We’ve talked about your family having to hide their identity during the Holocaust in Czechoslovakia, and we’ve talked about the fact that you came here at 12 years old from Italy speaking no English, and this country embraced you. You call yourself an immigrant, but you’re in favor of the wall being built, being paid for by the American people and keeping other immigrants out of the country much like yourself.”

“The way I see it, I want the American people to be taken care of first,” said Sabàto. “I came here legally and we had to wait in line and we had to struggle and save a lot of money and there’s people like that, and they deserve a chance.”

Sabato managed to elicit some applause from the audience, but that didn’t stop Behar from charging.

“If they felt that way when your family was coming over here you would still be in Italy,” Joy Behar chimed in before becoming a deficit hawk all of a sudden by calling the wall a “waste of money.”

“People who are coming in even legally or illegally are flying in, they’re not jumping over a wall,” said a visibly agitated Behar, even though tons of video exists of illegal immigrants doing just that.

Sabàto noted that the United States needs to “protect our borders,” and that walls indeed can work.

“It’s done it for Israel. Mexico has got a wall. Why can’t we?” he asked.

As far as the “cost effectiveness” issue Behar raised, Sabàto had an answer for that too.

“We spend $100 billion on immigration every year. The wall would cost probably less than $20 billion. We would save a lot of money.”
