The Minnesota Black Lives Matter chapter released a travel advisory for Super Bowl weekend Thursday, warning black people of extremely dangerous St. Paul police officers.

In light of the upcoming Super Bowl, Black Lives Matter Minnesota put out the “public service” announcement of the dangers that may arise from interacting with St. Paul Police Department law enforcement officers, the group wrote in a Facebook post.

Precautions are necessary in light of numerous instances of police brutality against black individuals, the group added.

“The St. Paul police department is the deadliest department in the state of Minnesota, killing more people annually than any other department in the state. African Americans and other people of color are especially at risk. Recent unjustified homicides at the hands of the St. Paul police include….. St Paul Police homicide event details are changed at will, thus, media reports regarding the above homicides often do not reflect factual event details,” the travel advisory noted.

Black justice organizations have taken to releasing travel advisories in the past, citing fears of discrimination. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) warned black people from traveling to Missouri in July. According to the civil rights organization, the state might pose some risk to black people and the gay community.

“Our ongoing issues of racial profiling, discrimination, harassment and excess violence towards people of color have been further exacerbated by the passage and signing of (Senate Bill) 43,” Cheryl Clay, Springfield’s NAACP president, said in a statement to the News-Leader.
