The state of California doesn’t have to wait for a catastrophic earthquake – it’s already gone off the deep end.

After a slew of bills that favor everyone but middle-class Americans, the state’s regressive lawmakers are on a roll.
In an almost unbelievable bid to control absolutely everything, a new bill was introduced that would require prison time for restaurant wait staff who serve drinks with plastic straws.
That’s right – you could go to jail for giving a restaurant patron a STRAW if they didn’t request it first.
News about the “Straws Upon Request” legislation spread like wildfire and makes a glaring example of out-of-control government run amok.
So, in California we can make plastic straws illegal but we can't make illegal immigrants illegal?

“Why are these limousine liberals imposing these weird sacrifices,” conservative commentator and California resident, Kurt Schlichter asked FOX Business’ Liz MacDonald. “I guess for their weird weather religion cult, on innocent people who are just trying to get ahead.”
Calif. State Majority Leader Ian C. Calderon tried to walk back the bill he introduced by stating it’s a work in progress.
I’d like to clarify that #AB1884 (Straws Upon Request) is (a) NOT a ban; (b) should it become law, it will NOT make it a crime for servers to provide plastic straws. My intention is simply to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic straws on our environment.

But, Calderon’s tweet came too little, too late:
If CA State Assembly Majority Leader @IanCalderon didn't intend to make serving an unrequested plastic straw a crime, why does his bill state that serving an unrequested plastic straw would be "punishable by a fine of up to $1,000, or by imprisonment for a term up to 6 mo."? https://t.co/LrRVkoRUcr

Raising awareness about a perceived environmental concern is one thing, but rolling out dictatorial bills requiring fines and jail time for something as petty as a plastic straw is an entirely different animal.
California has become a hotbed of controversy as footage of massive homeless communities have been circulating the internet. Uber-wealthy House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has called $1,000 tax cuts for working class Americans “crumbs,” while no one has been able to pinpoint how Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) was able to afford a 6,000 sq foot, $4.3 million dollar mansion after “serving the people” for 40 years.
Meanwhile, the state’s legislators passed a bill making California a “sanctuary state” for illegal immigrants who sneak into the U.S. unvetted.

The state has also pushed back on the Trump tax cuts, threatening to cancel out any tax reduction with a tax increase with yet another bill. Because massive taxes have worked so well for the state thus far:
A California radio host joined Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson to defend the egregious Straw bill, essentially arguing, not to worry… any fine or jail time would likely be passed on to the restaurant owner (job creator), and not the server.
