Inspector General announces ‘missing’ texts between Strzok and Page have been recovered

The DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General has announced that it has recovered “missing” texts between former Russian probe agent Pete Strzok and his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page.

The Inspector General has located the five months of missing texts, according to an official letter provided to lawmakers.

“The [Office of the Inspector General] has been investigating this matter, and, this week, succeeded in using forensic tools to recover text messages from FBI devices,” it read.

It was suspected that the texts may conceal further evidence of potential bias from Strzok, who Mueller eventually removed from the Russian election meddling investigation.

As Fox News reported:

The missing messages have been at the center of a storm of controversy on Capitol Hill, after the DOJ notified congressional committees that there is a gap in records between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017. Strzok and Page are under scrutiny after it was revealed that the former members of Robert Mueller’s team exchanged a series of anti-Trump texts during the presidential campaign.

The gap in records covered a crucial period, raising suspicion among GOP lawmakers about how those messages disappeared.

More than 50,000 texts were exchanged between Strzok and Page, Attorney General Jeff Sessions revealed Monday. Sessions had pledged to figure out how some of their texts went missing.

Reports on Wednesday indicated that some of the texts from five months of Strzok-Page correspondence had been recovered, but this development appears to be much more wide-ranging in scope.

Of particular concern are sensational reports that Strzok and Page were interested in forming some kind of “secret society” to oppose the Trump administration.  In addition, texts suggested the agents knew that Hillary Clinton would be cleared in the FBI probe ahead of former director James Comey’s announcement.

It looks like the American people will find out if there’s any there, there.

This is a breaking news report. More information will be provided as forthcoming.
