Police are still investigating an unnamed suspect related to the 2017 Las Vegas massacre and may file charges, city attorneys announced Tuesday.

Metro attorney Nicholas Crosby confirmed the ongoing investigation at a Tuesday hearing regarding the release of city search warrants related to the Oct. 1 massacre should be released to the media, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday. There had previously been no confirmed criminal investigations into the shooting, as the offender, Stephen Paddock, killed himself soon after the killings. Authorities have not named the potential suspect, but confirmed that charges could be filed within the next 60 days.

“Without naming names, there are potential charges against others as a result of the ongoing investigation — is that fair?” District Court Judge Elissa Cadish asked Crosby in court Tuesday.

“Yes,” Crosby responded. “There are charges being investigated.”

Crosby went on to say charges would likely be filed within the next 60 days, going on to qualify that “I’m not privy to all of the information with respect to what’s going on.”

Police initially named Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, as a person of interest in the early days of the investigation, but there is nothing to indicate that she had been targeted for criminal charges.

“Although the investigation to date has not produced any conclusive evidence that Danley aided Paddock, had foreknowledge of his plans, or has been deceptive with law enforcement, this aspect of the investigation is still the subject of intensive review,” documents obtained by the Review-Journal read.

The documents went on to say that Danley had offered up that her fingerprints were likely on the rounds Paddock fired, as she said she occasionally helped him load magazines.

Paddock’s shooting left 58 dead and more than 500 wounded after he rained hundreds of rounds down on a Las Vegas music festival from his suite in the Mandalay Bay hotel.
