MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski blasted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen for the “careful little dance” she did in her testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, actually even suggesting President Trump may have bribed her.
Lawmakers grilled Nielsen Tuesday over Trump’s alleged “sh*thole” remarks about Haiti and some African nations during an Oval Office meeting last week at which the cabinet member was present. Nielsen recalled “rough language” being used at the bipartisan meeting discussing an immigration deal but did not remember hearing Trump reference some nations as “sh**hole countries.”
Brzezinski found this unfathomable, and proceeded to digest the news for “Morning Joe” viewers who needed to be told what to think of Nielsen’s testimony.
“Is this about Donald Trump? I mean, for Kirstjen Nielsen or these Senators Cotton or Purdue, are they doing this for Trump?” Brzezinski said Wednesday. “I mean, I don’t understand why the DHS secretary couldn’t sit there and say by all estimations he said it. ‘I was there, I didn’t hear it, but everyone else in the room seemed to hear it. Lindsey Graham seemed to hear it so there’s not argument here from me.’”
The “Morning Joe” co-host continued her speculating with a complete lack f self-awareness, convinced that Nielsen was lying and would do whatever it took to cover for her boss, the president.
“I mean, what was the careful little dance there, was that, was Trump promising her something?” she asked, as co-host Joe Scarborough attempted to interject. “Did Trump make her take an oath? Did he scare her?”
“Mika,” Scarborough tried to interrupt.
“And where does her responsibility to this country stand with he testifying under oath yesterday dancing around the truth for Trump,” Brzezinski went on. “What did you just do, Madam Secretary, with your reputation, and the trust that we’re supposed to have in you as the secretary of Homeland Security. Because, I think she did immeasurable damage.”
