Robert De Niro unloads on President Trump with expletive-filled rant, calls him a ‘j******-in-chief’

Can we call “cut” on Robert De Niro?

The “Goodfellas” actor went on a vulgar anti-Trump tangent while introducing Meryl Streep for her award at the National Board of Review gala on Tuesday night.

“This f—ing idiot is the president,” the seasoned celebrity said, according to a transcript obtained by a New York Times reporter. “It’s The Emperor’s New Clothes – this guy is a f—ing fool.”

Streep won the organization’s Best Actress award for her role in the Steve Spielberg-directed “The Post,” which took home the Best Picture prize.

“The Post” tells the story of Kay Graham (Streep), the country’s first female news publisher who led the Washington Post in taking on the Nixon administration to print the Pentagon Papers–a history of covert US involvement in Vietnam.

De Niro praised the film while simultaneously criticizing President Trump.

“It was fascinating to watch ‘The Post,'” he explained. “That film took place nearly 50 years ago, but there are many parallels today, obviously. At the time of the story, Donald Trump was suffering from ‘bone spurs.’ Today the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump.”

The actor went on to call the president the “baby-in-chief” and “jerkoff-in-chief, ” and accused him of putting the “press under siege, ridiculing it through trying to discredit it through outrageous attacks and lies.”

At one point, De Niro said, “The movie gave us glimpses of President Nixon as delusional, narcissistic, petty, vindictive, nasty, and bats–t f—–g crazy. Ah, the good old days.”

The Oscar-winner has been a vocal critic of President Trump. In October of 2016, he appeared in a viral video in which he said he wanted to punch then-candidate Trump “in the face.”

De Niro’s comments weren’t kindly received by everyone. Many social media users fired back at the 74-year-old star.
