Oh, dear lord… Meryl Streep just said the scariest thing about Oprah’s 2020 presidential bid

It’s on.

The elitist left is as desperate to defeat President Donald Trump in the 2020 election as they are to see a second coming of a Barack Obama-like progressive messiah, and they may have found an answer to both dilemmas in Oprah Winfrey.

Just ask Meryl Streep, who’s now doubling as her unofficial campaign spokesperson.

Winfrey was awarded the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award at Sunday evening’s Golden Globe Awards and had media lapdogs foaming at the mouth with a rousing, politically-charged speech that touched on the themes of racial equality and the #MeToo movement.

A speech Streep called a “barnburner,” prompting the Oscar-winning actress to sound the charge in nominating the media personality as the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee.

(Someone may want to check to see if an Obama sycophant wrote Winfrey’s speech.)

“She launched a rocket tonight. I want her to run for president,” the liberal actress told The Washington Post after the awards show.

“I don’t think she had any intention [of declaring],” Streep said. “But now she doesn’t have a choice.”

It sounds like a clear signal to Hollywood royalty to fall in line with the recommendation. This comes from someone eager to distract from her awkward friendship with sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

And while she didn’t name Trump, Streep’s contempt for the president was evident for all to see when she listed Winfrey’s qualifications to be president – a short list in an age where the cult of personality rules the day.

“She runs a major company,” Streep declared. “She could lead the country. Instead of leading the country down.”

The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., took to social media to note the overt bias of a tweet from NBC News promoting a potential Winfrey run, which the network decided to then delete.

Speaking of Weinstein, Winfrey has an equally chummy relationship with the sexual “monster.”

When it comes to politics, never means never, but Winfrey has repeatedly denied any interest in making a White House bid.

“There will be no running for office of any kind for me,” she told “CBS This Morning” in October.

Of course, while the slobbering media is in heaven, social media users were quick to call attention to the hypocrisy of liberals like Winfrey and Streep.

Outspoken Hollywood actor James Woods led the way on Twitter:
