White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was confronted on Thursday with explosive allegations being made in Michael Wolff’s upcoming book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.”
Sanders took no prisoners. In typical fashion, she brushed off reporters eager for embarrassing headlines:
“I am not going to waste my time or the country’s time going page by page talking about a book that is complete fantasy and just full of tabloid gossip because it is bad, pathetic, and our focus is going to be on moving the country forward.”
President Trump stated that Wolff had “Zero access” to the Oval Office and called for the publisher to halt publication of the “phony” book with a cease-and-desist letter. Instead, the publisher has pushed up release of the book.
One of the claims in the “Fire and Fury” book that has reverberated in the media is that many White House aides believe Trump is “mentally unfit” to be president.
Sanders was on the money with her retort:
“It’s disgraceful and laughable. If he was unfit, he probably wouldn’t be sitting there and wouldn’t have defeated the most qualified group of candidates the Republican Party has ever seen. This is an incredibly strong and good leader. That’s why we’ve had such a successful in 2017 and why we’re going to continue to do great things as we move forward in this administration.”
That’s an inescapable truth: Love or hate Trump, if he is “mentally unfit,” then the leftwing media and the Democratic Party need to take a long look in the mirror about who beat them in the presidential election.
