Christopher Steele, author of Trump dossier, now in danger of investigation by Dept. of Justice

On Friday, Sen. Chuck Grassley and Senator Lindsey Graham stated that they believed Christopher Steele, author of the now-infamous Trump dossier, should be investigated for allegedly making false statements to authorities.

The news was reported by CNN’s senior Congressional correspondent Manu Raju. The statement reads:

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) referred the author of the “Trump dossier,” Christopher Steele, to the Justice Department of for investigation of potential violation of 18 U.S.C. 1001 for false statements investigators have reason to believe Steele made about the distribution of claims contained in the dossier.

The potential felony was referred to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray, along with corroborating documents. If an investigation is launched, it would help shed light on a document that helped fuel the media’s Russian collusion narrative for over a year.
