Country singer Carrie Underwood is recovering after getting 40 to 50 stitches on her face following a horrific accident at home.
“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well,” Underwood revealed in a post to her fan club members. “I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [my husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
Underwood fell on the front steps of her home in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 14, 2017. The accident occurred just days after she mocked President Trump in a parody song at the Country Music Association Awards (video below).
At the time, country music fans blasted her and fellow crooner Brad Paisley for their anti-Trump performance.
Days after her CMA appearance, Underwood tweeted that she had injured her wrist but did not mention her facial injuries or face surgery.
The Grammy winner has been quiet on social media since then, but posted an Instagram photo of herself in a hat and scarf covering her face on December 27 (photo above).
I just wanted let everyone know that I’m doing great. Had surgery on my wrist yesterday & all went well…even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on…I’m so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who’ve been taking such great care of me.

Underwood has since fessed up about the extensive nature of her injuries in a post to her fan club. She wrote:
“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” Underwood wrote. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”
Underwood, who got 40 to 50 stitches on her face during surgery, said she’s grateful that the injuries weren’t worse.
“I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful,” she adds. “I am grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse. And I am grateful for the people in my life that have been there every step of the way.”
Underwood added that she’s optimistic about the New Year, but warned fans she may look different the next time they see her.
“I am determined to make 2018 amazing,” she wrote. “And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different.”
While Carrie Underwood is famous for her singing, her wholesome good looks play a huge part in her success. Underwood is a rep for Almay Cosmetics, where her face is spotlighted in numerous ads. She was also the spokesperson for Olay beauty products.
A reality TV personality tweeted a photo she took with Underwood on December 12, several weeks after she got stitches on her face. Carrie’s face look free of scars. Interesting.
