Maria Menounos gets married in Times Square after brain cancer scare; touching ceremony has a few hiccups

Television host Maria Menounos got married on live TV during a New Year’s Eve broadcast from New York City’s Times Square.

Menounos, who recently underwent surgery after a brain cancer scare, exchanged vows with her longtime boyfriend, Keven Undergaro, in a ceremony officiated by comedian Steve Harvey.

Harvey, who received credentials to officiate the wedding shortly before New Year’s Eve, said: “Here we are folks, gathered on this really, really special occasion.”

Despite the freezing temperatures (a bone-chilling 11 degrees Fahrenheit), Maria looked gorgeous in a form-fitting white lace wedding dress.

Menounos’ boyfriend of 20 years looked cold but happy in a black tuxedo as the couple exchanged their vows live on Fox TV.

During the ceremony, Undergaro declared to Menounos: “You are a blessing not just to my life, but an even bigger blessing to this whole world. I will deal with you in brain tumors and health … I love you boo.”

She replied: “I love you so much. I just wanted to marry you so bad before surgery, after surgery, and I couldn’t think of a better way to do it than right here.”

The bride’s parents attended the New Year’s Eve nuptials, saying it was “a dream come true” to see it.

The wedding was a nice way to cap off a difficult 2017 for Menounos, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor while caring for her mom, Litsa, who battled stage 4 brain cancer. After undergoing treatment, MRI scans show Litsa’s cancer is stable for now.

Menounos underwent brain surgery on June 8, 2017 (her 39th birthday) after being diagnosed with a tumor in February 2017.

The TV personality went to the doctor after suffering severe headaches. An MRI revealed a golf ball-sized meningioma brain tumor.

Menounos’ doctor was able to remove 99.9 percent of her tumor, which was benign, but there’s still a 6 percent to 7 percent chance it could come back.

After her diagnosis, Menounos stepped down as co-anchor of “E! News” – a job she had held since 2015 – to focus on her health. The brunette beauty is a veteran entertainment reporter who previously worked at “Access Hollywood” and “Entertainment Tonight.”

Maria’s fans were shocked by her cancer scare because she’s a lifelong fitness fanatic who follows a healthy diet and works out every day.

Looking back, Menounos said the tumor was a “gift” that forced her to slow down and enjoy life instead of always rushing toward the next goal.

“I think this was a gift because I needed to change my life,’ she said. “I needed to change the way I did everything.”

Numerous people pointed out that Undergaro put the wedding ring on the wrong finger.

Meanwhile, her fans celebrated her New Year’s Eve nuptials, and wished her the best.
