With so much negativity in the news, you can leave it to First Lady Melania Trump to brighten America with the Christmas spirit.

Mrs. Trump had a special engagement on Wednesday. The First Lady visited Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington for a Toys for Tots charity program organized by the US Marine Corps. Reserve.
Looking forward to visiting @JBABdc today to help @ToysForTots_USA sort & pack toys to be shipped to children across the country in time for #Christmas! Thank you to all who volunteer time for others – esp during the holidays.

The First Lady arrived at the base looking stylish for Winter in an emerald-green coat paired with beige pants and nude high-heeled boots.

The crowd of service members, children, and reporters were treated to a heart-warming speech in which Mrs. Trump spoke about the true meaning of Christmas, and called for “giving back.”

“On a personal note, as my first year as First Lady comes to an end, I have had the privilege to witness the spirit and resilience of so many people in our country,” she said.

The First Lady referred to the tragic natural disasters that impacted millions of Americans this year.
“After this year’s devastating hurricane season, I hope everyone watching at home will consider giving back through programs like Toys for Tots. I’ve seen people from all over our great nation pitch in to help those who lost everything, and I want to challenge people to continue with that giving spirit over Christmas and in the new year.”

Mrs. Trump concluded:
“It is my hope that during this holiday season people will remember it is not about gifts. It is about family service and gratitude. We must continue to look out for and help each other.”

After the remarks, Mrs. Trump joined the gathering of people in sorting out the large assortment of toys to be sent out to needy children.

The First Lady was hard at work, putting into practice what she discussed in her speech.

She also showed she has a way with children, helping a young girl reach the table of toys and other assorted items.

After it was over, Mrs. Trump sent out a kind “thank you” to the military families she met at the event.
Great day with military families at @JBABdc as we sorted toys for children. Thank you to @ToysForTots_USA for all that you do for kids across the country. Merry #Christmas! pic.twitter.com/SdZdxGEMu9

The First Lady truly shined in every sense of the word.

The families at the event expressed enthusiasm at the chance to meet Mrs. Trump.

Moments like these remind us that even in the most polarizing political climate, Christmas has the power to soften hearts. Even those of U.S. Marines.
