Police had been investigating the “blossoming of a potential relationship” between Frisina, 17, a soccer player at a high school in Fort White, Fla. and boys soccer coach Rian Rodriguez, 27, Time reported.

The pair was spotted at a Fayetteville, N.C. pawn shop on Sunday.

Speaking with CBS News her mother admitted Rodriguez was a family friend whom Frisina’s father encouraged to apply for the coaching job at the school.

“I know that she to some degree left on her own. But I absolutely believe that she was lied to and totally misled,” Scarlet Frisina said.

“Every time I turn around, there’s something that reminds me of her,” she said.

Her family celebrated on Facebook after they received news that Caitlyn was found safe.

“They have her in N.Y. State. She is safe and we are headed to get her. Thank you everyone! God is good!!!” her father, Ward Frisina, wrote.

“Our Caitlyn is safe & we’re headed to get her! There are no words right now to express how grateful we are for all the love!” her mother wrote.

A search showed that Frisina and both of her parents are Facebook friends with Rodriguez.
