Special counsel Robert Mueller has announced the first criminal charge of a Trump administration official in the Russia investigation.

The charge relates to former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Mueller alleges that Flynn “willfully and knowingly” made “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to the FBI about his conversation with the Russian ambassador.
A copy of Mueller’s charge can be seen below:
Flynn is the first Trump administration official to be charged in the investigation, although a total of four members of Trump’s campaign have been charged thus far.
Former campaign chair Paul Manafort and his deputy Rick Gates pleaded ‘not guilty’ to Mueller’s charge, while the Trump campaign’s foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to a false statement charge.
Flynn, a retired Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army, was President Trump’s national security adviser, until retiring abruptly in February.
