There’s no love lost between CNN and the Trump administration.

But on certain holidays, like Christmas, political adversaries put aside their differences, let bygones be bygones, break bread and be festive, nay, even jovial, and engage in merrymaking, replete with much ballyhoo and even mulberry wine, at functions like the White House Christmas party.
CNN will have none of it.
‘Bah, humbug!’ It says to all of that chicanery, it will make no amends with the feared and despised Trump administration, what with all of its talk of “fake news” and triggering Anderson Cooper with the hurling of much paper towels.

Indeed, CNN has gone so far as to launch a boycott of the event; not just because Trump refused the PC nomenclature of “Happy Holidays” and instead went for the jugular with “Merry Christmas” on the White House greeting cards. As Politico reported:
“CNN will not be attending this year’s White House Christmas party,” a CNN spokesperson said. “In light of the President’s continued attacks on freedom of the press and CNN, we do not feel it is appropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests. We will send a White House reporting team to the event and report on it if news warrants.”
It’s amazing that CNN’s message wasn’t censored by Trump’s secret police. (That would be a joke, for anyone who can’t tell.)
The White House Christmas Party, scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m., was slated to have punch and pie. Alas, CNN’s members of La Resistance will not be attending.

Sarah Sanders, White House Press Secretary and mainstream media nemesis, was back with the snappiest retort we’ve seen in ages:
Christmas comes early! Finally, good news from @CNN. https://t.co/3GeJysIol3

All we can say is…
The tweet got the appropriate reaction from members of the Depressed, who apparently didn’t get that CNN’s announcement was meant to be an insult to the White House:
Sarah, you do know you work for us the American people and that you are accountable to us? Why are you so petty?

Depends on how you define who her boss is. DJT hired her, but we pay her salary. As the one (of many) who pay her salary, I expect her to treat all media outlets fairly and professionally.

In this fun house hall of mirrors known as “Resistance Twitter,” it’s fine for CNN to paint a giant bullseye on the back of the Trump administration from day one (remember, only 5% of all coverage in the entire media is positive), and then refuse to go to a friggin’ Christmas Party as some meaningful sign of political opposition.
This is supposed to make us believe CNN has been giving the Trump administration a fair shake? Here’s a bit of an open secret: You’re just feeding into the White House’s narrative.
If CNN really wants to prove its point about the Trump administration, all it has to do is one little thing: Be better. Be fair to all sides. Stop trying to pick political winners and losers. Cease protecting Democrats. Halt the double standards when it comes to President Trump and the Republican Party.
Then, you’ll really have something to protest about when the president drops the “fake news” label on your network.
