Animal rights zealots are famous for their aggressive behavior, but one such activist found himself on the wrong end of a riding crop when he made the mistake of taking hold of the reins of a horse, endangering the well-being of the rider.
Activists turned out to “sabotage” a scheduled fox hunt Saturday at the East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt Club in England, but when a man wearing a mask grabbed the reins of a horse, things took a violent turn.
The fox hunt adheres to the law, according to club officials — not that animal rights activists care.
The woman rider can be heard shouting “get off my horse,” as the spooked animal began to thrash about — there was some dispute over whether she was directing the horses movements.
But when the man showed no regard whatsoever for her safety, or that of the horse, the woman took matters into her own hand, striking the zealot repeatedly with her riding crop.
The self-proclaimed saboteurs posted a video of the encounter on Facebook.
Yesterday we took a trip over to the Pevensey Marshes with South Coast Hunt Sabs to sabotage the East Sussex and Romney Marsh Hunt. This is a hunt we haven’t seen much of recently and they didn’t seem too happy to see us! The terrierboys were on three quad bikes, one with no number plates on a public road and another equipped with spades and terriers. It seems they were clearly planning on hunting more than a ‘trail’. However, the huntsman was kept to a relatively small area of marshy ground with no woods or coverts and the hounds weren’t heard in cry all day.
Clearly unable to reconcile with the fact that most people find her ‘hobby’ abhorrent, one rider also lost the plot and started riding sabs down and attacking us with her whip. Needless to say, we stood our ground and will no doubt be seeing the ESRM again very soon.
Give us a shout if you want to join us out in the fields. Any donations towards our on going costs are also very much appreciated – paypal.me/BtnHuntSabs

Sussex Police are investigating the incident and noted that the “victim” wasn’t hurt, according to The Telegraph.
“The victim was reported to have received a bruise and bump to the head, but did not require medical treatment,” a spokesman said.
