When Blake Shelton reads mean tweets about winning ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ it gets ugly in a hurry

“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.”

People magazine named Blake Shelton 2017’s “Sexiest Man Alive” on Tuesday and ignited a firestorm of criticism.

Social media users slammed the publication’s decision to crown the country star and judge on “The Voice” with the title, with some even blaming the decision on President Trump.

Wait, what?

But the the 41-year-old singer whose latest album just reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, had the last laugh.

Backstage at “The Ellen Show” on Thursday, Shelton recorded and tweeted a video reading all of  the “supportive” feedback he has gotten about his new title.

Admitting he was “wallowing” in the “honor” of the title that was bestowed upon him, he said he wanted to share some of his favorite “mean posts” in the video that also included the hashtag, “don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.”

“I wanted to look at social media and see what’s being said out there by my supportive people, so I just wanted to read you some of my favorite mean posts,” he said.

“Woke up this morning to news that Blake Shelton is the Sexiest Man Alive. RIP every sexy man in the world who died in the ‘Great Sexy Plague of 2017’ overnight. You will be missed,” read one tweet.

“Did a bunch of celebrities die or something last night,” read another.

The singer continued reading off tweets including his “favorite, from Jonas.”

Trump blasted Al Franken for his ‘groping’ allegations, then Gretchen Carlson spoke up

“We may be living in a time of division and strife, but at least People Magazine has united us in our certainty that Blake Shelton is not the ‘Sexiest Man Alive.'”

Shelton captioned his tweet, “Thank y’all for the supportive words!”

Have to admit the man has a great sense of humor to share the video.

Not all the reaction to the People decision was met with despair and outrage, as many applauded the choice.

And his biggest fan, Gwen Stefani, definitely agreed.

Gene Simmons has been banned for life from Fox News. Yes, there’s a disturbing reason why
