A fantastic thing happened after Trump intervened on behalf of 3 Chinese-held UCLA players

How’s this for negotiation skills?

Trump had a whirlwind tour and by most accounts a successful trip to Asia, but the U.S. President’s biggest highlight might be the release of three young Americans.

LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley, and Jalen Hill were detained by Chinese authorities for allegedly stealing from a Luis Vuitton store in Hangzhou, China, the Daily Caller reported.

CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller reported on the developments just before the announcement of the team mates’ release:

And it did “work out” after Trump intervened on the players’ behalf, speaking directly to Chinese President XI Jinping. Not even a day later, the three were let go after being held for over a week.

If it weren’t for Trump’s intervention, the young basketball players could have faced up to 10 years in a Chinese prison for their alleged crimes.
