Feisty award-winner Miranda Lambert shocks country music by pounding on legend Garth Brooks: ‘I think it’s bulls***’

All is not well in country music paradise. Things are getting heated as some of the top names in the business go at it.

When word got out that country legend Garth Brooks lip synced his performance of his song “Ask Me How I Know” at last week’s Country Music Association Awards, some fans were disappointed.

One of the most vocal critics of Brooks’ miming was country singer Anderson Easy, best known as the boyfriend of multi-award winner Miranda Lambert.

East took to Twitter to blast Brooks for lip syncing on the same night he was honored with the CMA’s Entertainer of the Year prize, Daily Mail reports.

When East reposted his critique to Instagram later, Lambert joined in on the anti-Brooks tirade, replying “High five on this babe. If you can’t sing then don’t. It’s better to be honest than to pretend. I think it’s bulls***. My favorite performances were live live. The truth”

Ouch! The remarks were especially scathing in light of Brooks’ praise for Lambert throughout the awards.

The legendary singer referenced Lambert when he received his award from Reba McEntire, saying “Getting this presented to me by the entertainer of a lifetime, I thank you. Miranda said it best, Little Big Town said it best — we’re a family.”

Brooks even had glowing words for Lambert after the awards ceremony. “[Miranda Lambert] is one of the few females that we play, so you think she’d want to play it safe. She stuck country music in all of our faces tonight. Traditional country music. So she’s fighting the good fight.”

Brooks said he lip synced because “the voice just isn’t there anymore,” particularly with the artist’s current tight concert schedule, which includes “12 shows in 10 days.” The country icon asserted it was important to him to “represent country music as best you can.”

While many fans were disgruntled upon learning of Brooks’ miming, they were even more upset with Lambert and East’s unprovoked jab.

Country star Blake Shelton–who happens to be Miranda Lambert’s ex-husband–added further drama to the situation by coming out in support of Brooks.

Country music is often seen as the last bastion of sanity in what is otherwise a morally bankrupt music industry.

But apparently a few public spats here and there are needed to keep things interesting.
