Comedian Sarah Silverman retells going into ‘survival’ mode out of Trump fear, wanted to buy guns

Comedian Sarah Silverman feels “kinship” with those who feared former President Barack Obama would bring about the collapse of civilization, and while she advocates for gun control for the unwashed, her response to President Donald Trump winning the 2016 election was to load for bear.

In the latest episode of a new show that streams on Hulu, Silverman marks “the one year anniversary of Trump losing the popular vote” by sharing the inner-violence she seems to carry around in her heart — the comedian turned to social media during the Berkeley riots earlier this year to call for a military coup to overthrow the president.

Screen Grab: Sarah Silverman appears on Conan in March 2016 in character to compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler.

Even though she encouraged Obama to “take executive action to carry out the will of the people” when he considered expanding background checks for buying firearms, Silverman said the election of Trump resulted in her being consumed with “survival-based fear” and the “sudden urge to buy a gun and stockpile water and weapons and canned goods.”

“In an instant, I basically became a liberal doomsday prepper,” she said. “And for the first time, I felt an actual kinship to the far-Right militia person who thought Obama would end the world.”

“It’s that feeling of fear that makes us the same,” she added.

Except the wealthy liberal elite doesn’t want the other side having the same means to protect themselves as she reserves for herself.
