Donna Brazile is proving to be a thorn in the side to Hillary Clinton and her fellow Democrats.
First, she upset the Clinton wing of her party by criticizing the former Secretary of State’s fundraising arrangement with the DNC, essentially admitting the primary was rigged against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Now Brazile is stoking speculation about the death of DNC staffer Seth Rich, whose mysterious murder has made him the subject of a number of conspiracy theories–most of which posit he was killed for leaking damning DNC emails to Wikileaks.
The cause of the controversy? The opening pages of Brazile’s new book.
The political analyst and former CNN contributor dedicated her book, Hacks, to Rich, Newsweek reported. Even before getting to the insider information related to the failed Clinton campaign, the brief dedication offers unique insight into the relationship between Brazile and Rich:
“In loving memory of my father, Lionel Brazile Sr.; my beloved sister, Sheila Brazioutlanle; my fearless uncles Nat, Floyd, and Douglas; Harlem’s finest, my aunt Lucille; my friend and mentor, David Kaufmann; my DNC colleague and patriot, Seth Rich; and my beloved Pomeranian, Chip Joshua Marvin Brazile (Booty Wipes). I miss y’all.”
To add further fuel to the fire, Brazile appeared on ABC to hit back at Democrats accusing her of betraying the party when she brought up Rich’s surprise murder.
“Why am I supposed to be the only person who unable to tell my story?” Brazile asked. “I’ve heard a lot of people tell me various things as well. But here’s what they don’t know. They don’t know what it was like to be over the DNC during this hacking. They don’t know what it’s like to bury a child. I did, Seth Rich.”
Rich’s untimely death has been heavily scrutinized in large part due to law enforcement ruling it a robbery–despite the no valuables being taken from his person.
This has led to many observers theorizing that Seth Rich was the individual who leaked the emails regarding the DNC’s collusion with the Clinton campaign against Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary.
Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange has contributed to this belief by claiming that the source of the DNC emails on Wikileaks was not a hack, as the Democrats claim, but rather a leaker.
Per Brazile’s new book, the interim DNC chairperson feared for her own life after Rich was killed.
From her book:
I felt some responsibility for Seth Rich’s death. I didn’t bring him into the DNC, but I helped keep him there working on voting rights. With all I knew now about the Russians’ hacking, I could not help but wonder if they had played some part in his unsolved murder. Besides that, racial tensions were high that summer and I worried that he was murdered for being white on the wrong side of town. [My friend] Elaine expressed her doubts about that, and I heard her. The FBI said that they did not see any Russian fingerprints there.
