A pickup truck trying to plow down minority kids could be most inexcusable political ad in history

A Latino voter group aligned with the Democratic Party is under fire for releasing one of the most overtly race-baiting political ads in history.

The ad, entitled “American Nightmare,” paints Ed Gillespie, the Republican candidate for Virginia governor, his supporters, and President Donald Trump as violent racists who are hunting down minority children.

In the ad by Latino Victory Fund, a menacing white man in sunglasses is seen driving around in a pickup truck adorned with a Confederate flag and a “Gillespie for governor” bumper sticker.

The truck is seen targeting minority children, including a Latino boy, who urges his Muslim and black friends to run for their lives. “Run! Run! Run” the children scream to each other.

A narrator asks: “Is this what Donald Trump and Ed Gillespie mean by the American Dream?”

The ad is airing on Spanish-language TV stations in Virginia and Washington, D.C., through Election Day on November 7, according to the Washington Post.

After receiving backlash for its race-baiting and fear-mongering, Latino Victory Fund defended the ad on Twitter, saying: “We will not shy away from calling racism for what it is. Our community deserves champions. That’s why we’re in this fight. We won’t stop.”

In a press statement, Ed Gillespie’s campaign manager Chris Leavitt slammed the ad as “a desperate smear campaign.”

Leavitt noted: “This is not an attack on Ed Gillespie anymore. This is an all-out attack on the people of Virginia. This latest ad gives a clear indication of just what Ralph Northam and his national Democratic allies think of all of us, and it’s sickening.”

Meanwhile, Senator Marco Rubio— who’s Cuban-American — has been on the campaign trail stumping for Gillespie, whom President Trump has endorsed.

“I stand with Ed Gillespie for governor because I know Ed will fight for our conservative values,” Rubio tweeted. “No matter who you are, or how your name is pronounced, Ed Gillespie will work for you.”

Meanwhile, many on Twitter trashed Latino Victory Fund’s race-baiting ad as a new low for Democrats.

Several Latinos said they were outraged and embarrassed by the ad, which one Twitter user dismissed as “disgusting propaganda.”
