Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz not only called Special Counsel Robert Mueller a “zealot,” but said he uses tactics that “are very questionable.”
He also said Mueller is hell bent on charging President Donald Trump or someone close to him with a crime.
Appearing on Fox News’ “American Newsroom,” Dershowitz said Mueller needs to remember that his job is to ensure justice, not get “as many notches on his belt as possible.”
“I don’t suggest he’s unethical, but he’s very zealous,” the liberal law professor said. “He not going to be satisfied until he gets to the president or people very close to him.”
“Finding low hanging fruit, getting someone who you can prosecute and squeeze,” he said of the tactic Mueller is employing. “And then making him sing.”
The problem is, Dershowitz added, a canary doesn’t only sing, but also composes to get a sweeter deal.
“It’s a very dangerous tactic.”
Speaking of a canary, Dershowitz said George Papadopoulos, the former foreign policy adviser to Trump’s campaign who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, could have worn a wire to get on-the-record comments from Trump campaign officials because he lacks credibility as a witness.

“That’s why they would put a wire on him: they want self-proving evidence,” he told host Bill Hemmer. “They don’t want to have to rely on him and his testimony because any good defense attorney would start out by saying ‘tell us all the lies you engaged in — now why should we believe you now because you are getting a deal, you would sell your mother for this deal.’
“He is not a credible witness,” Dershowitz said. “You don’t put on a witness because he admitted lying already twice at least.”
