MSNBC goes down to Mexico to mock Trump’s wall, what interrupts the show… just too funny

Now that’s what you call a real-life lesson.

An unexpected bit of irony unfolded in the middle of an NBC story on border wall prototypes and whether President Trump’s call for a more secure border between the U.S. and Mexico is unnecessary.

NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff was viewing the eight border wall prototypes currently on display near San Diego when a group of “migrants not from Mexico” literally hopped the existing border fence while the cameras were rolling.

“What happened?” Soboroff asked the border patrol agent he was interviewing. “The people are crossing!”

The explanation came in the narration over the video.

“Almost on cue, a group of asylum-seekers, migrants not from Mexico, jumped over the existing fence to turn themselves in to border agents on horseback,” he said.

The incident could not have been better timed as a group of agents on horseback were seen with the border jumpers, reinforcing the “reality of every day” in securing the southern border of the U.S.

“It’s like, a small group of three people jumped over in the middle of the day,” Soboroff said to Roy Villareal, sounding surprised. “There’s a girl there in a pink backpack. Can you explain to me what’s going on?”

“This is the reality of every day border enforcement. The United States is still the draw, the ultimate draw, for people that have dire situations where they’re at,” Villareal said. “We’re going to continue to witness this. It plays out on a regular basis for us.”

“And it did here just now,” Soboroff admitted.

The eight prototype walls being displayed are competing for the chance to be the chosen border structure between the U.S. and Mexico, fulfilling Trump’s campaign promise to build a wall along the 2,000-mile border.

The models vary in shape and appearance but all bidding competitors followed the same guidelines, calling for the structures to be between 18 and 30 feet high as well as able to withstand attacks by torches, sledgehammers and the like.

The timing of the border jumping could not have been more inconvenient for NBC as they seemed to have just dismissed the need for the wall at all in light of the decrease in border apprehensions since President Trump took office.

Social media dished out a solid dose of mockery for the report.
