Hillary Clinton was so appalled by President Donald Trump’s inauguration speech, it drove her to use a cuss word on television.
The former presidential candidate appeared on the U.K.’s “Graham Norton Show” last week and recalled her experience at the inauguration. She coyly tried to make it seem that even former President George W. Bush agreed with her, even though she had no direct knowledge.
“It was reported that George W. Bush, as it ends, says, ‘That was some weird shit,’” she said. “And it was.”
It was reported? She has his phone number. Maybe she could have asked him before printing this in her book and spreading a rumor on foreign soil to say that our own past president doesn’t support the current commander-in-chief.
Are we supposed to believe her recollection of the events? This is the same woman who, by her own admission, thought Jason Chaffetz was Reince Priebus at the inauguration.
“I really tried to get out of going,” she said.
“We thought, maybe others aren’t going. So we called the Bushes, and the elder Bushes were in the hospital, which I think was legitimate,” she added, bringing laughter from the crowd.
“We call the younger Bushes, and they said, ‘Yeah, we’re going.’ We then call the Carters and they said, ‘Yeah, we’re going.’ So Bill and I looked at each other and said, ‘Well, we gotta go,’” Clinton recalled.
“What I wanted to have happen [at the inauguration] was despite the kind of campaign he ran, I wanted [Trump] to rise to the occasion of being our president and being the president for everybody, not just people who supported him,” she said.
She called the president’s speech “dark and divisive” and a “cry from the white nationalist’s gut” that left her “disappointed.”
“I was so disappointed,” she said. “Really, so sad that it wasn’t an outreach but it was a narrowing and a hammering of what he had said before.”
Norton’s show was merely another stop on her long and winding “What Happened” tour, and she laments the election at each one.
