Ivana Trump, the first wife of President Donald Trump, said her 1992 divorce from the billionaire mogul was painful, but the two are now close friends.
Ivana — the mother of The Donald’s three oldest children — recounted her nasty divorce in her new memoir, “Raising Trump.”
“I can only shake my head at how it insane it was,” Ivana wrote in excerpts published by the Associated Press. “I couldn’t turn on the television without hearing my name.”

Ivana was married to The Donald from 1977 to 1992 and had three children with him: Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka, whom she’d love to see be president one day (more on that later).
Ivana, 68, said she knew her marriage was over one fateful day in December 1989. At the time, rumors had swirled that Donald was having an affair with a model named Marla Maples.
“This young blonde woman approached me out of the blue and said, ‘I’m Marla and I love your husband. Do you?’ Ivana wrote. “I said, ‘Get lost. I love my husband.’ It was unladylike, but I was in shock.”
Marla married Donald in 1993, and had daughter Tiffany with him, before divorcing in 1999. In 2005, Donald married Melania Trump, and has repeatedly said his third marriage is definitely his happiest.
While their 1992 divorce made countless tabloid headlines, Ivana and Donald are now close friends. He has often praised her as an excellent mom. Ivana is a trusted adviser to President Trump, and encourages him to continue blasting the fake-news media on Twitter.
Ivana said she has no interest in being first lady of the United States, but would love to be “First Mother.”
“Maybe in 15 years, [Ivanka] could run for president?” Ivana wrote in “Raising Trump.” “First Lady? Holds no appeal for me personally. First Mother? That could work.”

Looking back on her storied marriage, divorce, and longtime friendship with President Trump, Ivana has no regrets. “My instincts told me that Donald was smart and funny, an all-American good guy,” she wrote.
