Weinstein has deep ties with top Dems; his behavior reportedly Hollywood’s biggest ‘open secret’

Big shot Hollywood director, and Democrat donor, Harvey Weinstein took a leave of absence from his company on Thursday after decades of alleged sexual harassment were exposed by the New York Times.

But that news was apparently not a shock for well-connected liberals as Weinstein’s deplorable behavior has been a widely known “open secret” for years. Weinstein’s powerful connections include scores of Democrats, most notably the Obamas and the Clintons.

Were they not in on the secret?

And yet former President Obama either had missed the memo on Weinstein while he spent 8 years hobnobbing with the Hollywood elites, or he simply overlooked it, when he apparently approved of his daughter working for an accused serial sexual harasser.

The former president’s oldest daughter, Malia, began interning for the Weinstein Company in February 2017. It was a paid internship in the production and development department while she pitched scripts to movie executives, according to the Daily Mail.

Her internship ended in August as she headed back to classes at Harvard. Yet, Weinstein’s was know my well-connected elites as, well, a sleaze bag.

And that isn’t the end of the Obama’s connections to Weinstein.

Former Obama White House communications director Anita Dunn, along with former special counsel to former President Bill Clinton, Lanny Davis, had reportedly been helping Weinstein handle the public relations nightmare in advance of the Times story.

Weinstein was a major donor to President Obama, and was considered a “bundler” netting his reelection campaign $679,275, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

And with Weinstein’s sexual harassment of women being an “open secret,” somehow the wannabe first woman president had no issue accepting campaign donations from him too.

Weinstein gave more than $20,000 to Hillary Clinton’s various campaigns from 1999 to her failed presidential bid in 2017, after giving to President Bill Clinton’s campaign in the 1990s, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

He also held a swanky Manhattan fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, co-hosted by  numerous A-list actors, in June.

All those Democrat donations have apparently bought him a lot more understanding than one would normally get from the left for these type of accusations being made against them.
