After being accused of serial sexual harassment, it appears director Harvey Weinstein is mainly concerned about staying in the good graces of his liberal elite brethren.
In a statement released after the New York Times accused Weinstein of decades of sexual misconduct, the big shot director and mega Democrat donor, came out of the gates guns blazing.
But not against his accusers.
Weinstein’s initial response was to inexplicably quote rapper Jay-Z, and announce his newfound intentions of going after the National Rifle Association and President Donald Trump. No doubt, a pathetically transparent and desperate diversion tactic designed to keep him in the good graces of his progressive buddies.

“I hope that my actions will speak louder than words and that one day we will all be able to earn their trust and sit down together with Lisa (Bloom) to learn more. Jay Z wrote in 4:44 ‘I’m not the man I thought I was and I better be that man for my children.’ The same is true for me,” he wrote in his apology to the women, including militant feminist Ashley Judd.
Judd recalled to the Times of one occasion where she had met with Weinstein. He allegedly arrived in a bathrobe and asked her to watch him shower.

“I’ve been trying to do this for 10 years and this is a wake-up call. I cannot be more remorseful about the people I hurt and I plan to do right by all of them,” he said in his statement.
Then, Weinstein diverted attention of himself and onto the Las Vegas massacre, vowing to go after the NRA and President Trump.
“I am going to need a place to channel that anger so I’ve decided that I’m going to give the NRA my full attention. I hope Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party. I’m going to do it at the same place I had my Bar Mitzvah. I’m making a movie about our President, perhaps we can make it a joint retirement party,” he wrote.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Weinstein said he believes the same conservatives who went after his long-time ally Hillary Clinton, are now after him.
“I’m not just owning my responsibilities, I know that. There are no excuses, but there are no excuses for people who are conservatives, Republicans, who are financing things against me in every area, be it personal, charitable, whatever.
“There’s more at risk for the country, but I worry about that in an era of fake news and these consortia that are financing news and I find myself a victim of it,” he said.
Because everyone knows the New York Times and Ashley Judd are bastions of right-wing ideology. Got it.
It looks a lot more like a desperate attempt to beg his liberal friends to keep him their circle and divert attention as quickly as possible.
Many on social media saw right through it:
Anti-gun sexual predator Weinstein wants to disarm women while his “feminist” sycophants “gossiped” as women suffered. Gag.

Gotta love how Harvey Weinstein’s statement includes swipes at NRA/Trump. Clear message: Hey guys, i’m a good liberal. Give me a pass.

It says a lot about Harvey Weinstein’s view of the left that he thinks he can get a pass on harassment by attacking the NRA.

Harvey Weinstein using the NRA as a red herring is a sleazy diversion tactic. This is about you being vile to women. https://t.co/HzjlJgXaJY

Basically: “I’ve decided to go after the only things you hate worse than me right now, the NRA and Trump.” https://t.co/vsCNlF6p8O

The part about channeling his anger at the NRA is basically him offering a hush-money settlement to the entire left https://t.co/UW8UI8PQ73

Wow, it takes real balls to pivot from apologizing for your numerous sexual misdeeds to … the NRA https://t.co/1qLdujAtZl
