Yikes! Celebs embarrass themselves with awkward teen pics after donor offers to pony up for Puerto Rico

Celebrities are getting awkward for a cause.

Putting their fame to good use, many are answering the call from late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert to share their embarrassing teen photos to raise money for Puerto Rico’s hurricane relief efforts.

Actor Nick Kroll, who was a guest on Colbert’s show, asked for tweets of celebrity throwback photos using the hashtag #PuberMe. Colbert decided “right on the spur of the moment” to take things another step.

For every celebrity tweet of their pubescent years  with the hashtags #PuertoRicoRelief and #PuberMe, Colbert’s foundation, Americone Dream Fund, will donate $1000 to the relief organization OneAmericaAppeal.org.

Of course, getting celebrities to step off their political soapboxes long enough to help a worthy cause is always a good thing. Getting to see embarrassing photos of their pre-celebrity awkwardness is just a bonus.

Colbert kicked off with his own photo “lookin’ cool as hell,” and was joined by many more including Reese Witherspoon, Jimmy Fallon, the Backstreet Boys, Debbie Harry, Al Yankovic, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
