Tucker lets CNN have it for ‘scaring the crap out of people’ over NFL debate

Tucker Carlson slammed the mainstream media and targeted CNN for “racial demagoguery” in the pursuit of ratings.

The Fox News Channel host called out CNN for pressing false narratives in the NFL anthem protests during “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday.

“The last thing this country needs is more demagoguery, especially racial demagoguery,” Carlson said. “On the other hand, whipping people into a frenzy of fear and rage is a guaranteed ratings bonanza and CNN can never resist that.”

Calling attention to how the network has turned the debate over NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem, Carlson introduced a montage of CNN video clips including Chris Cuomo likening President Trump’s remarks to telling NFL owners to “control your dog.”

“Dogs? Who said anything about dogs?” Carlson asked. “Nobody did, but it doesn’t matter. The image is horrifying and that’s the point. You can’t turn away from that. Now do you hate and fear your neighbor a little more after the end of that segment? Of course you do. Imagine if millions of people watching that kind of thing all day long. What would happen to the country? We’re finding out now.”

Carlson blasted Cuomo for “making up a quote” and then commenting on “the imaginary quote,” telling Democratic commentator and attorney Monique Pressley that it is terrifying to people.

“I’m not interested in how Chris’ analogy would terrify people,” Pressley replied, adding that minorities are “terrified every day just walking down the street.”

“African-American men are disproportionately stopped, disproportionately searched, disproportionately arrested, and disproportionately killed per capita in this country,” she said, adding that “one brave man decided to sit and then take a knee” in opposition, apparently referring to Colin Kaepernick.

“I’m not really hearing about, frankly, Tucker, a lot of people being afraid because of Chris Cuomo,” Pressley said.

Carlson pushed back, pointing to the problem with the “demagoguery” on CNN and other networks.

“When you’re going to tell a story, you have to tell the whole story,” he noted, “or else you’re pushing a false story designed to scare the crap out of people. And that’s what they’re doing.”
