The premiere of “Megyn Kelly Today” got off with a thud as the former Fox News star cracked a lame gay joke during a cringeworthy segment.
Kelly is finding out very quickly that pandering to liberals will get her nowhere. During a segment featuring the cast of the NBC sitcom “Will & Grace,” she invited gay superfan Russell Turner on stage.
Kelly asked Turner: “Is it true that you became a lawyer —and you became gay — because of Will?” (see video starting at 2:04) The show’s protagonist, Will Truman, is a gay lawyer.
Turner responded: “Yeah! I looked at Will Truman, and I’m like, ‘He has it made: lawyer, best apartment in New York City. And gay. Come on, the trifecta!”
Megyn then informed Turner that he would be getting tickets to a live taping of “Will & Grace” before ushering him away with this ridiculous send-off: “I don’t know about the lawyer thing, but I think the ‘Will & Grace’ thing and the gay thing is going to work out great!”
Not surprisingly, Kelly got trashed for trying too hard to pander to her liberal NBC audience. That’s the exact opposite reaction she was hoping for.
“Megyn Kelly is every mom trying waaaaay to hard to ‘relate’ to her gay son, but instead just makes it waaaaay worse,” one gay man tweeted.
Others (virtually) shook their heads in disbelief at how horrible Kelly was on her new show.

What Kelly doesn’t realize is that pandering to liberals is a losing battle. First, the left are ingrates. Second, they will never forgive her for having worked at Fox News, so she should quit trying. It falls flat and looks phony.
Kelly rose to mega-fame for slamming Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. Before that, she was a Fox News darling whose TV show pulled in monster ratings, easily clobbering her competition at CNN and MSNBC.
After Kelly trashed Trump, she briefly became a champion among liberals but had alienated the Fox News audience that made her a star. When Kelly left FNC, conservatives stopped caring about her, and leftists never welcomed her into their fold. They only liked her when she was bashing Trump in “enemy territory” at Fox.
So now Kelly is stuck in the middle, with no “base.” She has no core audience. And that’s a problem when your bread and butter is ratings.
Adding to the dumpster fire that is now her career is Kelly’s announcement that she no longer wants to discuss politics. She forgets that she became a cable-news superstar because she was opinionated about politics.
Kelly’s good looks also fueled her once-sizzling TV career. But she apparently had to let that go, since liberals won’t like her if she’s too sexy. Oh well. At least Megyn has her health.
