Beefcake cops’ selfies go viral, bring relief to hurricane victims in more ways than one

Well, hello there big fella.

Victims of Hurricane Irma will get relief any way they can get it. And it’s especially sweet for Florida women when it comes in the form of a hunky men in uniform.

The hoopla started when Gainesville, Florida police officers posted an innocent-enough selfie of themselves on Facebook, but the men’s good looks didn’t go unnoticed.

The sudden onslaught of attention was all fun and games for bachelor Dan Rengering who admitted he had to turn off his phone after the photo went viral.  His married partner Michael Hamill, on the other hand…

“She doesn’t like that kind of attention at all,” Hamill said of his wife, but said she came to the conclusion there was nothing she could do.

Oh, well. Guess you’re married to an instant internet star made famous for his good looks. Boo-hoo.

But Rengering, Nordman and Hamill weren’t the only ones receiving a ton of attention. Gainesville Officer Bylynn Hatcher has also become an instant heart-throb with a social media photo the department posted of him.

“Now, there’s the chocolate we want,” was a “favorite” response that Hatcher said made him laugh.

But, the comments didn’t end there, and some came with suggestions.

“Do a calendar, add puppies and pretty sure we can re-build Texas and Florida” was another example of the attention the photos received.

Good one! And don’t forget this hunky hero from Hurricane Harvey (who also rescued PUPPIES!!):

As tragic and scary as Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have been, it’s great to see some much-needed levity that brings people together.

It has also helped in a material way, as the Gainesville Police Department just announced that they are answering America’s call and will be putting together a calendar to raise money for hurricane relief.

Is has also lead to more unexpected fun, as police officers from Knoxville Tennessee launched their own picture in competition.

“It’s on!” Gainesville playfully responded.

Let’s keep it up, men. And major kudos to whomever is doing the hiring at these police departments!
