Tucker blasts DACA defenders with best questions yet: If that’s true, then why…

Tucker Carlson deftly directed common sense questions at a pair of DACA supporters who grappled with providing adequate answers.

The Fox News host sparred with defenders of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday, at times incredulous at their comments following President Trump’s announcement that he would be ending the Obama-era policy that protects illegal immigrants who came into the US as children.

“Do we have an obligation to put the interest of American citizens ahead of the interests of immigrants?” he asked libertarian Katherine Mangu-Ward, editor-in chief of Reason Magazine.

“No, I don’t think so,” she replied bluntly. “I just don’t buy that those things are in conflict.”

Carlson refuted her “massive assumptions” that Dreamers “absolutely” add positively to the American economy and culture. He pressed Mangu-Ward on clarifying if she would give preference to an American citizen versus an illegal immigrant when filling a job, but she compared the issue to favoring protectionist policies.

Carlson then asked his other guest, Nexus Services CEO Mike Donavan, why we should issue job permits to those here illegally when there are a significant number of American citizens who are out of work and desire a job.

“I have more faith in the American people than maybe folks who think that they need a hand up or a special place at the front of the line,” Donovan replied, saying Americans are “exceptional” and should have no problem competing with those coming into the country.

Carlson strained to understand the logic.

“I thought liberals would care about that,” he said as Donovan went on to complain about creating “classes of people.”

“It’s really simple,” Carlson explained. “Why would we give any work permits to people from other countries while we still have Americans who aren’t working?”

The Fox News host became more heated as Donovan dodged the question, even telling Carlson that he knew he was “a caring person.”

“Yeah, I actually care more about Americans that I care about illegal aliens,” Carlson shot back. “Call me crazy. Does that make me racist or something?”

As Donovan stumbled over his response, Carlson went in for the kill.

“The idea that the more immigrants we have the better off we are, if that’s true, then why isn’t California richer?” he asked, pointing out that California is poorer than it was four decades ago before the influx of Mexican immigrants across its borders.

“Surely you know that the only thing happening in California in the last many decades was not immigration,”  Mangu-Ward chimed in with a condescending tone. “The entitlement state has gone up there massively.”

“Because of immigration,” Carlson shot back.

“These people are the kind of immigrants that even people like you, who are essentially a restrictionist should like,” she went on as Donovan jumped in to argue that the immigrants are the “driving force” in the economy.

Carlson concluded that “Dreamers” are individuals and he would not generalize them, adding that the current broader immigration system “doesn’t serve America’s interests.”

James Woods was bold enough to nail DACA ‘scam’ in one simple tweet, and it’s gone viral

“You notice that our economy has become less impressive over the past 40 years,” he said, “but the main thing that’s happened is the massive change due to immigration, but you don’t see any connection?”
