Jesse Watters called out liberal media hypocrisy criticizing President Trump’s reaction to the Charlottesville protest, noting they said nothing when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama waited for days before addressing bigger crises during their tenures.
“There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on here,” Watters said on the Fox News show The Five. “Hillary Clinton waited 2 weeks after Benghazi to call that terrorism. If Trump had blamed Charlottesville on a [phony] video, maybe he would have gotten a free pass.”
Watters continued: “President Obama waited 4 days during Ferguson while that city burned, and he was [vacationing] in Martha’s Vineyard.”
Trump has come under fire from liberals and the mainstream left-wing media for not reacting seconds after the Charlottesville protest turned violent on Saturday morning. When the president responded, he condemned all violence, racism, and hatred. All means ALL.
That blanket condemnation infuriated liberals because it meant Trump also denounced leftist violence and racism.
Moonbats and liberal media reacted by claiming Trump did not want to condemn the fringe white-supremacist movement that had rallied in Charlottesville, Virginia.
To be clear, Trump has repeatedly disavowed and condemned the alt-right, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, ALL racism, and violence.
In contrast, Obama has never condemned the anti-white, anti-police Black Lives Matter movement or radical Islamic terrorism.
Jesse Watters rightfully concluded the media and crybaby liberals won’t be satisfied no matter what Trump says or does, so there’s no point trying to appease them. “Just because he didn’t name names doesn’t make him a racist,” Watters said. “It just opened up the door for people to unfairly smear him as a racist.”
According to numerous eyewitnesses, the white-supremacist rally on Friday night was peaceful but turned violent Saturday morning only after leftist anarchists came and started throwing fists.
“You had both sides coming into the town armed to the teeth … they wanted to rumble,” Watters said. He pointed out that a New York Times reporter admitted she saw the radical-left antifa beating up the white nationalists. One of the leftists even punched a female reporter in the face.
While the media looks for every tiny thing to criticize Trump, they gave former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former president Obama a pass on their huge screw-ups for eight years.
For example, not only did Hillary lie when she blamed the 2012 Benghazi embassy attack on an anti-Islam video, but the media never criticized her for ignoring 600 email requests from Ambassador Chris Stevens begging for more security before he was murdered.
Similarly, when a supporter of the militant Black Lives Matter movement assassinated five police officers in Dallas in 2016, Obama not only did not condemn them, but he invited them to the White House as his special guests.
“Obama also called [Islamist] terrorism ‘workplace violence,’ so it’s hard to be lectured about word games from the left,” Watters said.
