Dem Sen touts mystery chat with McCain just before he torpedoed healthcare, leaves folks hanging & frustrated

Sen. John McCain is a Democrat hero again after sinking healthcare reform in the wee hours Friday morning.

And Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy has everyone wondering what the Arizona senator said to him before he voted to keep Obamacare the law of the land.

“I ran into John McCain as we walked underground to the Senate for the final vote. Someday I’ll get to tell my grandkids what he said to me,” Murphy tweeted early Friday.

McCain was the deciding vote against, what was called, “skinny repeal” after he was not convinced by House Speaker Paul Ryan that the bill would be worked on in conference before it was sent to the president’s desk.

It was known that Sens. Collins and Murkowski were “no” votes against the bill. So it was Sen. McCain’s vote that gave Democrats the 51 – 49 victory.

The vote against repeal and replace put Sen. McCain back in the good graces of Democrats.

It made him a villain to those in his own party.

And many simply wanted to know what the heck he said to Sen. Murphy.

Others guessed at what might have been said.
