In news that comes as no surprise, it turns out Senator Bernie Sanders is related to comedian Larry David. How’s that for a cosmic coinky-dink?
David learned he was distant cousins with Sanders while filming the PBS show “Finding Your Roots,” where celebrities trace their lineage and family history. Both are liberal Jews who were born in Brooklyn, New York.

“[Bernie is] a third cousin or something,” David revealed during a panel discussion at the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles. “I was very happy about that. I thought there must have been some connection.”

David was at the event to promote the return of his TV series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The show returns to HBO on October 1.
Larry accidentally made the revelation about his blood relationship to Sanders after a reporter who had seen an advanced screener of ” Finding Your Roots” asked him about it:
They told me not to say anything about it. You just spilled the beans! I also found out I have Nazis in my family … no, no, but there are slaveholders, though.
This might be a good time to note that if a Republican politician or conservative celebrity joked that he had Nazis in his family or had slave owners in his lineage, that would immediately top all the headlines on mainstream media.
Bernie Sanders’ earthy Brooklyn accent, gruff personality, and hilarious mannerisms were comedy gold for Larry David, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for his spot-on impersonation.
