Jenna Bush Hager got her hand playfully slapped by her mom after attempting to prank call her on national TV.
Bush Hager, a correspondent for the “Today” show, recruited her co hosts, Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones, in the effort to trick her mom, Laura Bush.
But the former first lady was on to them quickly.
Roker started, during a commercial break, by calling Mrs. Bush with an old prank.
“We’re doing a random survey right now,” he said. “checking out on whether your refrigerator’s running right now. Is your refrigerator running, ma’am?”
The punchline is supposed to happen after the respondent says “yes” and the prank caller responds “then catch it.”
But Bush was hep to that game and disconnected the call.
Next to give it a shot was Bush Hager, who attempted to disguise her voice, to no avail.
“Jenna, would you quit being so silly?!” the former first lady told her 35-year-old daughter.
“She made me do that, Mrs. Bush!” Jones shouted.
“Hi, mom! I’ve always wanted to meet you!” Jones said excitedly.

Roker said he was excited because he “never pranked a first lady before.”
And Bush Hager responded that it “was fun to go back to seventh grade for a moment.”
