People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. In Ira Madison III‘s case, he shouldn’t even think about stones.
Madison — the vitriolic writer for the Daily Beast and GQ — finally apologized for spewing a sexist, homophobic, transphobic insult at White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, whom he called a “butch queen in drag.”
According to Urban Dictionary, a “butch queen” is a gay man who’s not feminine or masculine. So Madison managed to insult women, gays, butch females, and drag queens all in a single tweet.
Madison was excoriated on Twitter, with conservatives pointing out that the left ignores misogynistic, bigoted or racist remarks when liberals make them, but throw violent hissy fits whenever a conservative does.
“So sexist and misogynistic comments are acceptable as long as they’re aimed at Conservative women,” one Twitter user noted.

On Monday night, Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director, demanded an apology from the Daily Beast.
The last time Scaramucci demanded an apology from the media, three CNN reporters got fired over a fake-news report.
The @thedailybeast should apologize. The comment is reprehensible.

An hour and 20 minutes later, Ira Madison tweeted a tepid apology, saying he’s sorry if his “joke” offended anyone. The apology came more than 3 days after his initial sexist jab.

Many Twitter users did not buy Madison’s apology, saying he didn’t sound sincere and probably only did it to keep from getting fired.

Madison has a history of making obnoxious, offensive comments, both on Twitter and in his articles.
In January 2017, Madison deleted a racist remark he tweeted during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ confirmation hearing.
“Sessions, sir, kindly return this Asian baby to the Toys ‘R’ Us you stole her from,” Madison tweeted.
Basically, Ira suggested that Session’s half-Asian biological granddaughter was a prop for PR purposes.

Madison was too dumb or too lazy to do any research. Jeff Session’s daughter Ruth Sessions Walk is married to John Walk, who’s Asian-American. It was their half-Asian daughter who was sitting in the Attorney General’s lap that Ira Madison so casually mocked.
It’s unclear how Madison has hung on to his jobs considering the reckless, offensive, sexist, racist hatred he regularly spews.
But it’s time for his employers to rethink their relationship with him. Everyone pops off on social media from time to time, but this guy is unhinged.

Twitter responded by calling Madison an insincere, hypocritical, hateful bigot.

Apologies are great, but not doing in the first place is even better. Try to put your nice cap on next time.

Just be yourself, Ira. No need to send insincere apology for fear or reprisal at @thedailybeast. They embrace your hatred as well, no? pic.twitter.com/THsNR2BvuR
