‘Anti-Trump’ Shep Smith goes low to fire back at Hannity after he dared to point out the obvious

Show hosts Shepard Smith and Sean Hannity have both been with Fox News since its 1996 inception, but the two have found themselves increasingly at odds of late over President Trump. While Hannity has been a staunch and unwavering supporter of the president, Smith has been something else altogether.

During a Monday radio interview with Dr. Sebastian Gorka during which the two were discussing the difference between straight news and network opinion shows, Hannity hit Smith with a much-deserved “so anti-Trump” label, according to The Hill.

“Shep is a friend, I like him, but he’s so anti-Trump,” said Hannity. “He went off on a rant last week. That’s fine, but [the opinion is] different.”

Hannity was likely referring, among other things, to Smith’s harsh criticism of Trump last week that has since gone viral:

“They tell us there’s nothing to this,” Smith said, “that nothing came of it, there’s a nothingburger, it wasn’t even memorable, didn’t write it down, didn’t tell you about it ’cause it wasn’t anything so I didn’t even remember it. Why all these lies? Why is it lie after lie after lie?”

Hannity also told Gorka that there were more “Never Trump” and “anti-Trump” employees than one might think. He then referenced his fellow show host:

“Shep Smith disagrees with me, and he does so vehemently. Fine, I have no problem with it,” Hannity said. “I’ll say this about the Fox News Channel, there are voices on Fox that drive me nuts. Like Shep and I been friends for years, we just respect we don’t agree. And the media was praising Shep and he’s not the biggest fan of Trump, fine! We don’t talk politics when we hang out, when I see him we have the best time, and we just have this mutual respect.”

Responding to Hannity’s comments via a statement to Mediaite, Smith played the elitist “journalist” card and said, “Sometimes facts are displeasing. Journalists report them without fear or favor.”

Will Smith and Hannity’s friendship outlast the Trump Administration? So far, it’s not looking good!
