Trump’s Scaramucci to Putin: ‘I’m sorry I wasn’t there, I didn’t get the memo’

Amid endless streams of news reports analyzing President Trump’s meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, one former member of the president’s team may have been feeling left out.

Anthony Scaramucci, who served on the executive committee of Trump’s transition team and was at the center of the scandal that caused three CNN journalists to resign over a bogus story linking him to Russia, joked about missing the meeting with the Russian president in Germany.

“I want to ask you a question,” Fox News’ Katherine Timpf asked Scaramucci on “The Specialists” Friday.

“Are you a little upset that you weren’t invited to the meeting today since you and Putin are so close?” she asked, tongue in cheek, referring to the more than two-hour long meeting the Russian leader had with Trump at the G-20 Summit in Hamburg.

“Vladimir, I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I mean I didn’t get the memo,” Scaramucci laughed. “Maybe next time.”

He followed up with a quick correction, “President Putin, I don’t mean disrespect. I was just joking.”

Last month, CNN ran and later retracted the story citing an anonymous source connecting the financier to the Russia investigation. With the reported threat of a $100 million libel suit, the network then asked for the resignation of three staffers involved with the story.
