If you’re gonna be stupid you have to be tough.
That lesson was driven home twice for a Florida man who not only shot himself in the penis, but may now be facing felony criminal charges.
Jacksonville resident Cedrick Jelks, 38, reportedly sat on his gun that was sitting on the driver’s seat of his vehicle Friday when the firearm discharged and shot him, according to News 4 Jax.
A woman, identified as his girlfriend, rushed him to Jacksonville’s Memorial Hospital for surgery after Jelks ran into their home and made a straight path to the bathroom, where he revealed his injuries.

Because it was a gunshot wound, the hospital followed protocol and called law enforcement authorities.
Once the police got involved it didn’t take long to discover that Jelks has a criminal record for cocaine possession from 2004, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm and may face charges on that.
Because the weapon discharged when he sat down, it was apparently cocked, and if it were a semi-automatic, a round would have had to have been chambered with the safety turned off.
Not a smart move from a safety standpoint.
Jelks is now paying for his stupidity — possibly twice over. One could argue, however, that shooting his penis was penalty enough for him.
