Can’t take a joke?
Media outlets went ballistic Sunday after President Trump tweeted a video depicting him body-slamming his opponent at a wrestling venue. His opponent was tagged as CNN.
Despite news outlets flipping out, White House officials thought it was humorous and all in good fun. They also thought it justified given the manner in which the press has treated the president.
“I thought it was funny,” one White House official told The Daily Beast, on condition of anonymity. “Glad [Dan] Scavino and the president did that.”
Daniel Scavino Jr. is the White House Director of Social Media and an assistant to the president.
The Daily Beast continued:
“The president fights back,” another senior Trump aide added. “It’s rich that some of you people [in the media] can never take a joke.”
“Pure Trump,” another official tersely messaged.
Trump’s ongoing battle with the mainstream media — primarily with CNN and MSNBC — has prompted Fox News host Jeanine Pirro to ask whether he’s “going crazy with Twitter.”
However, Rev. Jetty Falwell Jr. told Pirro, who’s normally one of Trump’s biggest fans, that he actually appreciates the president hitting back at his critics on social media.
“I even appreciate when he attacked – the left is melting down,” he told Pirro over the weekend. “It’s incredible to watch how they still haven’t gotten over how Donald Trump won.”
Apparently Falwell enjoys the humor — the media and the left don’t.
